Echo Barn is a bespoke four-bedroom timber-frame property set within the Kent countryside, designed by Hawkes Architecture under what is now known as Paragraph 84 planning policy.

The architectural design features a striking arrangement of timber louvres wrapping around the main house, giving the property the appearance of a traditional agricultural barn while incorporating modern construction techniques. Two single-storey outbuildings with timber and mathematical tile finishes help define the entrance courtyard and private garden spaces, creating a strong connection between the buildings and their surroundings.

The timber-frame structure was carefully engineered to maximise thermal efficiency and airtightness, incorporating recycled cellulose insulation within the walls and roof. The construction required detailed coordination of the structural elements, glazing and mechanical ventilation systems to achieve a high-performance building envelope while maintaining the distinctive architectural design.
